Over the last 7 years I have been involved in mentoring a large number of SME’s and start up business throughout Northern Ireland & Donegal area.

Sales & Marketing – Have mentored SMEs within range of sectors including, engineering, construction, food, IT and manufacturing covering the following; preparation of detailed marketing plans, which included the following headings; Growth/Development Objectives for 3 years, Proposed Export Marketing Strategy, Facilities and Operations, Management and Staffing, Implementation Issues, Projected Spend (which included design and development of business brand, promotional literature, website design, e-commerce advertising, attendance and participation at trade shows etc) SWOT Analysis and Competitors.

I also covered the following topics;
• Is the business ready to go to a new market,
• What are the additional costs,
• How to get Started,
• Which market should I sell to,
• How to enter the market,
• Developing in house skills and Customer Care

Finance – Have mentored SMEs within a range of sectors including, engineering, construction, ict, food and manufacturing covering the following; preparation of monthly management accounts using Sage Line 50 Multi Currency, Purchase/Sales/Nominal Ledgers, Credit Control, Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations (including management of Invoice discounting), VAT & PAYE responsibility, Management of cash flow and preparation of budgets and forecasts and Completion of Year End Routine.

Processes/ Systems - Have mentored SMEs within a range of sectors including, engineering, construction, ICT, food, and manufacturing covering the following; Leadership, Human Resource Management (including recruitment of staff, contracts of employment, company handbooks etc ) Implementing Quality Systems, Systems and Administration, Sourcing Materials and supply chain management.
